Have You Been Affected by Nissan Paint Peeling, Bubbling, or Flaking?

Many vehicle owners expect the exterior paint on their vehicle to last for years. However, some Nissan owners have reported paint problems that appeared much earlier than expected, including peeling, flaking, bubbling, delamination, and other forms of premature paint deterioration.

In some cases, these issues may continue to worsen over time, affecting the appearance of the vehicle and potentially reducing its value.

Nissan Paint Defect Class Action Lawsuit

Hammer Injury Law is pursuing a proposed class action lawsuit involving certain Nissan vehicles.

The lawsuit alleges that some Nissan vehicles were manufactured with defective exterior paint coatings that can fail prematurely during the reasonably expected life of the vehicle. The claim further alleges that the paint defects may be related to the paint materials used, the factory paint application process, and/or Nissan’s painting and coating systems.

These allegations have not yet been proven in court.

The lawsuit was filed in 2025 and the litigation is ongoing.

What Vehicles May Be Affected?

The proposed class action involves certain Nissan vehicles that may experience premature paint failure, including issues such as:

  • Paint peeling
  • Paint flaking
  • Paint bubbling
  • Paint delamination
  • Premature paint deterioration

If your Nissan vehicle has experienced any of these issues, you may be affected by the proposed class action.

A class action lawsuit is a type of legal case where a group of people with similar complaints or injuries come together to sue the same defendant. This group, known as a “class,” is represented by one or a few members of the group, known as “lead plaintiffs.” Class action suits are useful when handling cases where many people were harmed in the same way, making it more efficient than having each person file an individual lawsuit. This way, the group can share legal costs and the case can address all their issues collectively.

Joining a class action lawsuit doesn’t cost anything upfront for the individual class members. Hammer Injury Law handles class action litigation on a contingency fee basis. This means we only get paid if the lawsuit is successful in obtaining a settlement or a court award. Our fees are taken as a percentage of the settlement amount.

When a class action lawsuit is “certified,” it means that a court has decided the case meets the requirements to proceed as a class action. This is a crucial step in the process. For a lawsuit to be certified as a class action, it typically must satisfy certain criteria.

Certification is important because it establishes that the case is suited to be handled as a class action, rather than requiring each individual to file their own lawsuit. After certification, the lawsuit moves forward representing the interests of the entire class.

Individuals in Canada who currently own or previously owned a Nissan vehicle that has experienced premature paint failure may be eligible to participate in the proposed Nissan Paint Defect Class Action. Examples of paint failure may include peeling, flaking, bubbling, delamination, or other deterioration of the factory-applied exterior paint coating occurring within the reasonably expected life of the vehicle.
